about

The four members of the of the group FOLKABOLA come from Avola (South Sicily), their main instrument is the friscalettu (wooden whistle). It is precisely this instrument of the ancient Sicilian peasant culture to arouse curiosity and to be almost always in evidence during their performances. The repertoire is based mainly on folk songs taken from texts of musicologists Sicilians. Complete the repertoire some unissued old compositions, coming for archives and original compositions that composed in the same, traditional vein.
The performances are generally carried out in sound for the sake of the holidays in restored farmhouses in the area of Eastern Sicily.
Jolla: dance of shepherds. The man: put yourself next to the woman, cross-legged, kneel in front of her on the ground by placing a single knee, now one, now the other. The woman: small movements with her hands on her hips, moves the hips, plays a little with the feet. The man pretends to embrace the lady, he sends kisses, plays with his arms. It's a relaxed dance.
