All over the world the claming effect of the lullaby is known.
But on certain Salentine children, particularly hyperactive, it doesn’t work. In these cases the rhythmic pats on the body of the child become harder and harder until they are actual blows because the Moms lose their patience. A typical phrase in these cases is “ma che ti ha pizzicato la taranta?” (What’s wrong, did the tarantula sting you?). The purpose of the songwriter is to musically represent this situation by adding a rhythmic phrase to the lullaby, and a conclusive phrase with only tabors and voices singing the pizzicate tarantate verses
